The Graduate

Today was Michela's 6th grade graduation! I can't believe she will be starting Jr. High next year. Mike and I were able to go see her graduation ceremony at school this morning. It was with much happiness and a little bit of sadness that I watched her walk across the stage and receive her diploma. Where has my little girl gone? I was watching this beautiful young woman up there and I still often picture her as my chubby little smiley baby girl. It is weird having her move on from this stage of life. I don't think I'm quite ready for it.

We went to a little picnic afterwards and were able to eat and chat with her and her friend Rachel. They both aren't that excited about the dance scheduled for later. Michela told me there is going to be a girl/boy slow dance. I told her she could go to the bathroom during that one. :) Ha, ha, ... I remember my sixth grade dance where I slowed danced with Brad Gooding. I thought I was the luckiest girl in the room. Too funny. I hope she has a great time, even though she had to wear a skirt all day. Love that girl!

Memorial Day

We had a lovely Memorial Day. We relaxed a bit in the morning, got some flowers planted, and even got our garden going, finally. We also had a fun get together with our friends. We barbequed up some chicken and had a relaxing dinner together with plenty of time to chat and catch up. Later we moved outside to the back patio, bundled up a bit (it was chilly), and roasted some marshmallows. We got a little more creative and used Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Andes Chocolate Mints instead of the tradtitional chocolate bar. I think the Peanut Butter Cups were my favortie. Yummy!

Watch Me Mom!

Aria has been trying to learn how to jump rope for some time now. The other day it finally clicked. I had to grab the camera to capture the momentous occasion.

I spent the rest of the day hearing, "Watch me Mom!", "Look at me Mom!" When Daddy got home he was treated to her newest skill as well. I can't believe how fast she is growing up and the new things she learns with every day.

I Got My Booty Kicked

The other day I turned on the TV and Good Things Utah happened to be on. They were featuring a new exercise class called Ballet Blast. As I watched the segment I became more interested in it. I've been looking for a way to get myself back into regular exercise and I wanted something that would feel new and fun. I looked it up and found out the class was in Lehi. I was so excited to try it and convinced my sister, Tiffany, to go with me. We went last night and that was the biggest booty kicking I've had in a long time.

The instructor is INSANE! She is like the energizer bunny on crack, but in a good way. :) It was nonstop, heart pumping, head spinning action from the get go. The class is a combination of Ballet exercises at the barre, weight lifting, a little dance, and core insanity. I was sweating bullets and my whole body felt like jello when I was done. I can feel the soreness setting in and I'm sure by tomorrow I won't be able to even lift my pinky. The only bad thing is that the class is from 9:30-10:30 at night which means by the time I drove back home, showered and got ready for bed it was about 11:45. Even though I got to bed late and Laina woke up at 6:30 this morning, I still feel good about going. Am I crazy for contemplating about going again? Yes. Will I be there next Monday night at 9:30? You betcha!

Little Climber

Laina is getting to be quite the little climber lately. I have to watch her every second, because she is always getting into something she shouldn't. The other day I walked out of the office to see her making her way up the stairs. Here she is caught in the act.

She proudly showed me her new skills as she made her way up the stairs.She is also pulling herself up on everything; the stairs, chairs, table, couches, beds, window sills,... you name it!She loves pulling herself up to her little activity table. When you put her down in the family room she crawls over to it as fast as she can. She loves the sounds and music. You can often see her shaking her booty to the songs. So cute!

I can't believe she is already 10 months old. Only a couple of more months and she will be turning 1! Wow, this year has gone by so quickly. She now has her two bottom teeth and is constantly gnawing on anything she can get into her mouth. She loves phones, remotes, and cameras. She thinks pushing all the buttons is so much fun. She'll even pick up the remote and point it at the TV to see if anything happens. She has also become our little vacuum cleaner, crawling around and picking up every little thing on the floor and sticking it in her mouth. And the cutest thing she does now is wave her little hand at you. She is just too precious and we are so thankful for her in our lives.
