You Want to go Outside?

Every time anyone goes outside Laina dashes for the door and tries to get out.  She will stand at the window and watch the kids when they are playing outside, trying to get their attention so someone will come and get her.  Sometimes she even brings me her shoes in hopes that I will take her outside to play.  The other day we had some free time so I took her outside to roam around the backyard.  She made a beeline for the playset.

  She loves the playset and can't get enough of the swings.

 She has started to try climbing the steps, but they are so steep and it freaks me out every time I catch her on them.

She also likes to hunt for stray golf balls and loves it when the kids leave their clubs lying around.

    Inevitably she ends up in the dirt and rocks.  What is it that babies loves so much about dirt?  I could just sit there and watch her all day.  She is so curious and is so happy to just be outside enjoying what's around her.  It's so much fun seeing the world through baby eyes.

Hallo

Laina's favorite things to play with are phones and remotes.  She loves pushing the buttons and seeing what happens.  At church she is always trying to steal peoples' iphones.  Her first word was "Hallo" as she held a phone up to her ear. 

 Lately she has been using everything as a phone.  At the amusement park this summer, while we were standing in line for the carousel, she kept watching this kid texting on his phone.  As we got closer to him she started to point and make her little questioning sounds, "uh?".  As he walked by without noticing her she was so sad.  She wanted that phone so badly!  The last week or so I just have to say to her, "Who is it?" and she puts her little hand up to her cheek and says, "Hallo."  She has the cutest little deep baby voice and we love to hear her say it.  Mike thinks she is a genius because she figured out how to unlock his iphone with the sliding arrow.  He laughs every time she does it.

Science Project with Golf Balls of Course

 Hunter's class had their science fair recently.  They were supposed to do a comparison project.  Hunter didn't know what to do.  We thought about it and finally came up with the idea to compare golf balls to see which go furthest.  We are never in short supply of golf balls around here so collecting them was the easy part.  We had to figure out a way to make sure it ball was hit with the same amount of force.  Mike and Hunter built a little pendulum contraption that used a hammer to strike the balls.

 They had a fun time over at the golf course hitting the golf balls and recording their distance.  I think it is great when kids can incorporate what they love with school projects.

Webelo

Hunter has been working hard on scouts this year.  He received his Webelo at pack meeting the other night.  He also has been racking up the pins, he already has 12 of them, and he has only been working on them since April.  He has the most fantastic den leader, she keeps those boys on task and is such a big help with getting everything done.  It won't be long now before he is back up there again getting his Arrow of Light.  This picture makes me laugh, it is a little glimpse into the future when Hunter will be towering over me.  I'm sure it will come faster than I'm ready for.  So proud of you Hunter!
